The Window Cleaning Hall of Fame 2009 Inaugural Class Inductees
Richard Fabry
Richard Fabry met Rod Woodward in 1986; listened to his vision about the magazine, American Window Cleaner Magazine, started out as a volunteer and soon became half owner when investing some funds. The first two years they supplemented our income by cleaning windows. When Rod developed serious health issues, Richard became sole owner.
I don't believe that Richard ever understood the impact on the industry that AWC Magazine has had. I believe it is as vital as the squeegee.
Richard says "it's been nearly five years since I sold AWC. The experience was invaluable and helped me develop discipline, tenacity as well as focus my diverse skills and talents. I learned a lot about business; a lot by 'trial and error'. It helped me come out of my shell, see a lot of the country going to conventions and board meetings, as well as meeting a diverse crowd of both window cleaners and those who supplied them."
Richard always marveled at the passion of window cleaners. He says you could especially feel it at their annual conventions where everyone was under one roof.
Currently Richard is envisioning a media production company. He expects it will be a very creative outlet for him. Whatever he does, he will always look back at the 18 years he published AWC as the bedrock for whatever future successes are in store for him.
Richard says "I literally consider it an honor, as our tag line proclaimed, to have been the 'voice of the professional window cleaning industry' for all those years."
