Window Cleaning Hall of Fame 2010 Candidate

Sörbo Samuelsson

Sörbo Samuelsson is a perfect example of "The American Dream" come true. He came to the United States from Sweden in 1971 on what was to be a short visit. But after being exposed to American hospitality, he decided to stay.

He got into window cleaning to make a living, but found a real passion for it. He came up with the 3X4 system partly to economize on rubber in his own business and partly as his personal effort to lessen America’s dependency on foreign oil.

But the system he created was even more impressive in terms of performance. The ability to trim the rubber blade doesn’t only save rubber, it also makes a sharp new edge available anytime it’s needed. Often the resulting edge is better than on a new rubber. In Sorbo’s quest for adjustability to attain economy, he also made the squeegee perform better and adaptable to a wider range of surfaces. The design turned out to be perfect for making squeegee channels of extreme lengths. Which made the system even more efficient. The window cleaning world would not be the same without Sorbo Samuelsson’s many contributions.

These days, while Sorbo is still very active in the window cleaning world, he finds great satisfaction in two of his other passions. Motorcycles and Christian charity work. That he can combine the two, makes it that much sweeter. On many a weekend, you’ll find Sorbo doing prison ministry with his Christian motorcycle club around Southern California.
